A five-year-old girl has been left an orphan after her parents were killed in the war. Every day she goes to their tombs and sleeps between them. She then goes to the children‚s home to see the teacher who has promised to take care of her.
About the filmmaker: Mukhammad Khaidari was born in Afghanistan. He is a camera operator by profession, and, in that capacity, has participated in such films as The Last Beginning.

Kabul Cinema received the Ellen Award at the Aspen Film Festival in 2004, and was also selected for Clermont-Ferrand 2003 (France), Locarno 2004 (Switzerland), and Tampere 2004 (Finland). It received Best Director at the Esfahan International Film Festival, Special Mention of the Jury at the Roma Short Film Fest, and both Special Mention of the Jury and the German Young Filmmakers Award at the Kurz Short Film Festival in Hamburg.
Synopsis:A boy who loves cinema manages to save films and equipment from a movie theater that burned. He walks around the ruins of the city showing films to people of his age. But soon some Taliban catch him in the act.
About the filmmakerMirvais Rakib was born in Kabul, Afghanistan in January of 1966. After his earning his Bachelor‚s Degree, he began working in the Afghan film industry in 1988 for the National Cinema Institute, first as an assistant cameraman and then head cameraman. During these years, a brutal civil war destroyed Kabul. From 1996 to 2001, when all cinema was banned under the Taliban regime, Rakib was forced to live in exile in Pakistan. He was a refugee there for five years, making films under the sponsorship of NGOs. Just after the liberation of Kabul in December of 2001, he returned to his native city. He has since directed several short films of his own, as well as serving as assistant director on the widely acclaimed Osama, and assistant camera on Atiq Rahimi‚s Ashes and Earth.

This film was one of the very first to be made in Afghanistan after the overthrow of the Taliban.
Synopsis:A group of Taliban seeks to burn the Afghan Film Studios and all its archives. But the studio‚s workers manage to hide the film negatives so the Taliban can‚t find them. They also manage to hide about 80 paintings. Unfortunately, the Buddhas of Bamyan could not be saved. Thankfully, there is a resolution of their restoration.
About the filmmakerTimor Hakimyar was born in Kabul. His began his creative sareer in 1985 as an actor.
